Cartoon of the Week: The RET Review

Published by

From left to right Alan Moran (Institute of Public Affairs), Maurice Newman (Chairman, PM’s Business Advisory Council), Dick Warburton (Chairman of RET Review panel), Burchell Wilson (Chief Economist at Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry).

Alan Moran: Campaigner against “Green Radicals”. Originally considered for RET Panel chair but rejected as too radical” himself. Departed IPA August 2014 after tweeting politically incorrect comments about Islam and Federal Labor.

Maurice Newman: Says Australia has “become hostage to climate change madness” and claimed in The Australian on 14 August 2014 that the world was “ill-prepared for a period of global cooling” in an op-ed piece titled “We’re ill-prepared if the iceman cometh”.

Dick Warburton: Self-described climate sceptic and best mate of Maurice Newman who told Andrew Bolt on Channel 10 last week that the RET was intended to “reduce emissions into the atmosphere.”

Burchell Wilson: Commissioned the now discredited Deloitte report to counter Warburton’s report that found consumers would be better off by leaving the RET alone. Burchell was stood down last month as Chief Economist by CEO Kate Carnell, after allegations that he posted offensive comments on his Facebook page, including one referring to a childhood photo of Treasurer Joe Hockey as “a fat little bastard”. He also took aim at the disabled, refugees and Muslims.
