Meanwhile, in China, 60 GW of new solar capacity added in first quarter of 2025

China's installed solar capacity has increased by a stunning 43.4% through the first quarter of the year, with nearly 60GW of new capacity added.

Total installed power generation capacity for the country has reached 3.43TW, a 14.6% increase from the same time last year.

The strong first quarter comes off the back of a particularly strong 2024 which saw wind and solar generate 18% of the country’s electricity.

All sources of clean electricity combined to supply 38% of China’s electricity in 2024, led by hydropower, which contributed 13%.
