RenewEconomy readership continues to surge

RenewEconomy has set new records for readership in the first full month of 2015, both in terms of page views and visitor numbers.

In February, the average number of page views per day was 30 per cent above the average in calendar 2014, and 60 per cent above the same month a year earlier.

In March, so far, average page views have continued to grow another 10 per cent over February. Unique visitors in February were a record 188,000.

The most popular stories reflect the diversity of news and analysis on the RenewEconomy website – the first grid-connected wave energy array, the call to renewable action by a major Gulf bank, new analysis about the plunging cost of solar and the growing impact of storage, and – of course – the stalemate in Australia’s renewable energy policy.

In short, the usual exclusive mix of inspiration, hope, and frustration – delivered with a mixture of fun and sound analysis.

How to support RenewEconomy

RenewEconomy, unlike an increasing number of its peers, is not hiding its work behind a subscriber wall, and we’d like to thank our advertisers and readers for helping make this a successful site.

RenewEconomy will continue to offer its news and analysis free of charge, because we think it is important that the public can read the stories, particularly with mainstream media almost completely ignoring the issue.

But, given that RenewEconomy will not hide behind a pay-wall, it needs revenue from somewhere, and your support.

This can be done on a corporate level through direct advertising, with a range of options available on the web-site, or via the daily newsletter, which has nearly 8,000 subscribers. More than 1.1 million people visited the site in 2014. You can find out more here.

Or, if you value RenewEconomy’s work, you could contribute through a “voluntary subscription”, or donation. This will help ensure that RenewEconomy can continue and hopefully expand its services into the future. You can find out more here. And thanks for those who have already done so.

Your support is much appreciated.

Regards

The RenewEconomy team.

Congratulations on the ever-increasing readership figures Giles and all at RenewEconomy! Particularly now that what’s left of Climate Spectator is creeping behind a paywall, it’s time for everyone who agrees with the information sharing and advocacy role of this site to chip in and help keep it freely accessible to those who are new to it. I’m going to sign up as a voluntary subscriber right now.

Congratulations, Giles! You and your team provide an essential service with your high quality journalism. I’m please that you are getting more and more readers, as that means that more people are learning stuff they need to know.

If one day someone writes a history of the carbon war in Australia you should be one of the heroes.

RenewEconomy has long been my favourite enviro/news site and the breadth and depth of content from such a small team — ably lead by you Giles — continues to improve over time. Congrats.
