Paul Denholm, a solar and storage expert from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado, explains how storage is changing the game in the world’s biggest electricity grid.
Denholm joins Energy Insiders to discuss the NREL’s recent work on high renewable energy scenarios. It sees 80 per cent in the world’s biggest grid as imminently achievable, but is not yet sure how the last 20 per cent can be achieved. But technology, and costs, are changing first.
And, as usual, the news of the week is discussed, including the extraordinary government push on Liddell, falling LGC futures prices, and the National Energy Guarantee.
