At a glittering awards ceremony at the Adelaide oval Friday night, local entrepreneur Jenny Paradiso was named the Telstra 2016 South Australia Business Woman of the Year. As the co-founder and Managing Director of Suntrix, a reputable solar energy company, Jenny has been the driving force behind this local brand that is now charging into national and global markets.
Working from their kitchen table, Suntrix was established in 2009 by Jenny, a librarian, and her husband David Hille, an I.T. specialist. They had been looking for a solar system to meet their requirements and soon realised they weren’t alone in the search for a reliable, trustworthy and experienced solar company that provided good value solutions. “When we couldn’t find a good solar option locally, we decided to source quality panels and inverters on our own. When friends and family heard about what we’d developed, there was suddenly demand for our solar system, which prompted us to think bigger and consider starting a business.”
From these humble beginnings, Suntrix has now grown to a national company with a multi-million annual turnover. The solar industry has had its ups and downs but Suntrix rode the solar roller-coaster and is working even harder and smarter as a result.

In Jenny’s acceptance speech, she applauded the other powerful women growing amazing Australian businesses. She also expressed her hope that when her two young daughters join the work force, the opportunities available to them and all young women will mean that the need for a ‘woman’s award’ will be redundant.
Jenny will now represent South Australia in the Telstra 2016 Australian Business Women of the Year Awards, to be held later in the year. The Suntrix team wish her all the best but also want to add that it doesn’t matter if she wins or loses, because ”in a world of ordinary mortals, you are our Wonder Woman”.
