RenewEconomy back on line, still some articles missing

Dear readers

As many of you may have noticed, RenewEconomy was offline for some time Monday and Tuesday due to “technical difficulties”. We have now restored the web-site, although we are still working on re-posting recent stories. Apologies if you are trying to find something from the last week.

Hopefully, full service will be restored shortly. Thankyou for your support and we apologise for any inconvenience.

The RenewEconomy team.

I was thinking some angry coal hacker had struck… Good to see the site back up.

Well, you could be right. Technical difficulties is a euphemism. We’re calling it Direct Action.

I was wondering when the Green Army would actually do something.

If this truly was Direct Action by a coal hacker, I, for one, would be happy to contribute $ towards a more secure server. To protect my essential daily reading.

It’s ultimate ineffectiveness certainly feels like Direct Action.

Renew’s “technical difficulties” should be paraded as a badge of honour, Giles, as evidence that your truth-seeking missiles are hitting their target. Well done – and nil bastardum carborundum!

yes, meant to be fun. My former General Manager at the ABC used to add it to his emails to me all the time!

Yesterday we were 403’d (forbidden). Maybe it’s called direct action denial of service from those tech-savvy renewable-haters !

I agree with Sandi’s badge of honour comment. Your excellent reporting may be making some in what Jeremy Leggatt calls “the incumbency” feel distinctly nervous, leading to this week’s Direct Action. Is there anyone in Renew Economy’s readership with online security technical skills who might be able to help trace the source of the hacking?

Normally I am not one to entertain conspiracy theories but I find it strangely coincidental that one of the websites most critical of the Australian governments anti renewable stance is suddenly off the air especially when the divestment campaign over here is gaining momentum and our prime minister made a fairly major announcement yesterday proclaiming “coal is king, and for Australians to stop demonizing the coal industry.”

Congratulations Giles, we’re well on the way.

Yes I like that quote. And we know exactly what stage we’re at now, I can already see the finish line.
