Farming the Sun has begun its first ever Northern Rivers Bulk Buy

PRESS RELEASE

We are delighted to see Farming the Sun’s solar power bulk-buy programs being extended to the Northern Rivers region.

Farming The Sun is an active supporter of the North Coast Energy Forum and we are pleased to see their activities going from strength to strength.

Farming the Sun began in 2008 and at that time was Australia’s largest community solar power bulk-buy. Since then, we have coordinated six successful bulk-buys in the New England region and expanded into community solarfarms with Lismore City Council ”, said Adam Blakester, Project Director.

“We are now really pleased to begin our first ever solar bulk-buy in the Northern Rivers, which expands on the two current bulk-buys we are coordinating across the greater New England North West region,” added Blakester.

Local solar specialist Nickel Energy have been selected as the project partner following a competitive Expression of Interest process which was open to all local installers. Nickel, which is back under the ownership and leadership of solar entrepreneur Nick Lake, have a long and sound track record including having coordinated the first bulk-buy in the Northern Rivers about a decade ago.

The Northern Rivers bulk-buy is being coordinated by Byron-based sustainability strategist, Chris Harris.

“We have already received more than 90 pre-registrations of interest in the bulk-buy and now welcome further interest from local residents, businesses and other organisations,” said Harris. “We are ready to start installations as soon as the first block of 40 orders is filled.”
