A note to our readers

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in our first 10 weeks of existence, and to wish you all the best for the Easter break.

The interest in our website, and the opportunity to read news and sound analysis on cleantech, carbon and climate issues not found in the mainstream media, is growing rapidly.

According to Google Analytics, it took us 26 days (not including weekends) to reach our first 50,000 views, 17 days to reach our second 50,000, and just eight days to reach our third 50,000.

In the past four weeks, more than 35,000 people in Australia and overseas have visited the site (unique viewers). The “click rate” on our newsletters is averaging 32 per cent. Earlier this week, for instance, for our story on solar PV and the Gillard government, it reached 43 per cent. The open rate was nearly 60 per cent. That is an extraordinary response for a media newsletter.

This is very gratifying, and we thank you for your interest and support. The feedback has been terrific. We look forward to continuing the good work, but first we will take a break for Easter. We will be back on Tuesday, April 10.

Warm regards,

The RenewEconomy team

    Great site, can I request an article on the level of fossil fuel subsidies in Australia?

    Mat Hopkins;
    The last figures I read, are the fossil fuel industry gained some $11-12B p.a. while the Alternative Energy subsidies amounted to less than $2B in Australia. Internationally the Fossil Fuel industry is about $400B and the Alternative Energy Suppliers subsidies amount to about $286B.It would be nice to see a better analysis and more up to date report on the subject.
